G. ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE
2. Capital Improvements FOF may contract for capital development when funds are provided solely by FOF and plans are approved by the City. Other capital improvements are the responsibility of the City of San Antonio.
3. Operations
The Nature Preserve Coordinator carries out SAPAR's on-site operations; managing the work of the Park Naturalist, the maintenance staff, an intern and a volunteer assistant, and coordinating the work of volunteers and organizations that contribute to Park programs.
Bookkeeping, budget preparation, status of funds and basic day to day operations are handled by the Nature Preserve Coordinator and the Horticultural and Environmental Services division of SAPAR.
FOF, in cooperation with SAPAR, promotes conservation and manages education and scientific research related to the Park. FOF provides educational materials, a Park newsletter, funding for programs, volunteers, guides, and professional guidance for education, science, and research projects.
4. Real Estate The Park is public property, owned by the City of San Antonio. As stated in their Request for Proposal for this Conceptual Master Plan, FOF intends to expand the Park’s physical boundaries whenever possible.
5. Resources
The City of San Antonio, TPWD, and the U.S. Department of the Interior have all contributed to the development of the Park.
Past capital improvements funding has also come from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, TPWD, the San Antonio Area Foundation, HEB, and USAA.
The Bexar Audubon Society continues to be instrumental in establishing the Park as a significant natural area and supporting educational programs.
SAPAR and FOF have established a network of volunteers and supporters that continue to advance the mission of the Park. The local chapter of the Native Plant Society and a number of service organizations (i.e. Boy Scouts, San Antonio Junior League) provide considerable volunteer education and maintenance support for the Park.
The Board of Directors and Membership of FOF continue to give unequalled volunteer support to Friedrich Wilderness Park.
