back to Knowing Home

This version of public studio was created just a little before there was a general understanding of digital convergence. Master plans were made of dense paragraphs written by committees and interpreted by a priestly class of planners. Even the most sophisticated citizens found these plans very difficult to read.

The SalsaNet Media Lab's part in the Environmental Design Charrette was an attempt to make the regional planning process more understandable to the general public using digital mass media. Steven Land Tillotson suggested the the name "public studio" because we complimented the local production missions of public radio and television.

Public Studio is expanding beyond regional planning to include all elements life in the region. We are calling the project "Knowing Home."
